As the fitness industry gets more and more competitive, it gets more difficult to get, and sustain the attention of individuals. Whether you offer fitness, figure, and bikini competition preparation advice, sell ebooks, sponsor products, or just train the average Jane, we have learned a few top tips from the professionals that will help you to stand out from the crowd.

Huh? Profile? What in the world is she talking about?

You first need to understand WHO your customer is before you can spend your time, money, and energy, in marketing your products and services. Think about it this way, if you specialize in fitness for seniors, would you want to set up a Facebook page and spend a lot of time trying to connect with potential clients on that platform? Probably not.

So spend some serious time figuring out who your potential customer is. Get VERY detailed here.

- What age is the individual?
- Male or female?
- Single or married?
- Kids?
- College educated or not?
- What income bracket?
- Working or not?

All of these factors, when narrowed down, will help you to focus your marketing efforts to specifically target the audience that will bring you customers.

You need to know how your profiled potential customer spends her time. If she is a stay-at-home Mom with 2 kids looking to get into shape, she likely spends some serious time on Facebook, blogs, and forums. If your potential customer is a professional, working Mom in her early thirties to mid forties, she likely spends much of her time Googling for the services she's looking for.

If you don't know what how your potential customer spends her time, then ask! Ask everyone you know. Tell them what you're doing and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how many of your friends will jump in to help with the information you're looking for.

Now that you know where your potential customers are, you need to advertise - Advertise - ADVERTISE!

Advertising is absoletly critical to building your customer base. This is not a "build it and they will come". No matter how great your products and services are, people need to be able to find you.

Now I know what you're thinking... "How in the world can I afford to advertise? I'm just starting out!" But fortunately thanks to social network marketing and the internet, advertising no longer has to cost you an arm and a leg. It may only cost you in time!

Think about it from your potential customer's perspective. How in the world are they going to know about your services if you're not right in front of them? You need to be visible to be heard. And you need to be where your customers are.

Participate in forums, write articles for sites like this one, comment on blog posts you like, and connect with potential customers on Facebook. All of that only costs you in time, and is extremely effective.
