What is the Best Time to Work Out?

Are you a morning person or an evening person? Do you love to sleep in or are you up and going at the crack of dawn? Knowing where your energy peaks in the day is critical to finding out when the best time is for you to work out.

Early morning individuals usually are the ones that show up at the office cheery and ready to hit it hard. They love morning meetings and are typically pretty tired by the end of the day.

The late evening individual shows up a bit groggy, reaching for the first of what is to be their many cups of coffee, and despise morning meetings. By the end of the day typically they're ready to roll. They may even stay late because the idea juices are flowing rapidly when everyone else is heading home.

Which individual are you?

Ideally you should train when you have the most energy. If that's in the morning, get your pre-meal cardio in, eat your first meal of the day, and then hit the weights. If you're more of an evening person, get your weight work out in later in the day when your energy level is at its highest. Studies have shown that the time of day doesn't matter as much as the energy level at the time of the work out. If you're feeling tired and drained of energy, it will be difficult to push yourself to achieve the gains you desire. If you're operating at your peak energy level, you'll be giving yourself the needed boost to push through even the most challenging work out.

The motivation to get into summer bikinis is usually enough for me ! Get it over and done with in the morning.
