Kristin Shaffer Meals for Fat Loss

Figure and bikini competitors are the experts at being able to sculpt their bodies, whether that's to put on muscle, lose fat, or both. In this FABulously Fit Friday I show you 3 days of my meals while I was working on losing some weight (fat pounds only).

The secret to weight loss is preparation.

Check out how I prepare for sexy body success in this FABulously Fit Friday video below, where I show you how I cook up typical half week of meals.

You simply won't succeed at systematically losing weight unless you eat clean, eat often, and eat slightly less calories than you are expending. If you eat too little, you'll lose muscle (see: Why You Can't Lose Fat). And if you eat too much, you'll put on weight in the form of muscle and possibly fat as well.

So it's a delicate balance that is best achieved by having a plan.

I'm also a firm believer that meals need to be simple, efficient, and consistent. Anything otherwise and most won't stick with it.

Boring you say?

I don't.

I love my meals as I know it's fueling my body, accomplishing exactly what I want to accomplish. With each week that passes, as I get closer and closer to my goals, my drive to succeed only intensifies.

That's the beauty of a plan.

With love,

Kristin

Update: I've had a lot of inquiries about the Meal Planning Tool that I mention in the video. It's included as part of my Bikini Competition eBook.

Kristen I love you!! I love that I have adapted this life style now since May and you and I pretty much have the same habits and food sources as you do! I have lost 15 lbs and about 10% body fat through eating like a figure competitor! (My goal is to compete at the bikini level). And I'm almost there thanks to all your motivation! I even have my girl friends asking me how to eat right by tagging along to the grocery store with them and educate them about how to cook their meals! (and ofcourse join figureandbikini.org!)
Thanks, Kristen!

awesome awesome awesome! Now can you help me meal plan for the rest of thre family?? LOL I strugggle with figuring out their meals and they are typically not near as healthy as mine...feels kinda selfish! So if you can clue us in on what you do! <3 love this site and BIG thanks!
--Ben1schek

Hi Kristin. Thanks to you and FAB, I realized that I was under eating my potatoes and overeating on my chicken.

Secondly,we eat just nearly the same thing! I use PAM to line my pan (with reynolds wrap of course-hope that's OK) I use olive oil sometimes, but just only started since you mentioned it.

I'm also gonna start microwaving my potatoes. I bake them. My chicken-I boil them. Mine taste moister boiled (I don't bake at a high temperature).

Thanks for doing this video. BTW: I rinse my chicken as I probably saw my mother do this, but won't now. :-)

Great video! Super helpful. Thanks so much. I'm curious about how you came up with the correct grams/amounts of chicken, almonds, potatoes you should eat as I want to do the same but unsure of if I would require the same amounts. Also, what about your vegetables? When and how much do you eat? Any suggestions would be VERY helpful. Thanks again! :) Ps. I'm 40 years old. 135 lbs, wanting to lose 10 pounds. I lift and do cardio 3-5 days a week. :)

Kayla that's awesome!!!! Good for you! Doesn't it feel amazing? Oh that makes my heart sing to hear you've benefited from this site. Thank you for kind words and do keep us posted on your progress to competition!

Ben1schek that's a great question about the rest of the family. I oftentimes will cook more protein than I need (chicken, turkey, eggs) and then use that to make quick meals the rest of the family likes. For instance, my son likes pretty much anything coated in ketchup. ;)

Don't feel selfish about taking care of yourself though. My family has learned that a happy mom makes for a happy family. :)

Joan - You are an inspiration. You're doing a great job and I love being a part of your journey.

Aimsmarie - Thank you for your kind words! I developed an online meal planning tool as part of FAB University that gives me exactly what I need to eat, with the foods I love. It's pretty darn cool. We'll be giving away more free seats to the University soon so be sure to send me an email if you're interested - info@FigureAndBikini.org

For veggies I have my sweet potatoes and some greens. My greens are with my last meal of the day as I can't eat greens with my office job. Broccoli stuck in my teeth is a great look on my. ;)

An entire head of lettuce is like 10 calories, so I don't pay too much attention to it until I'm really close to competition.

With love,

Kristin

Quick question!! What type of container do you use or suggest, because I find it difficult to use different sizes! Thank you soo much for this site I am glad I am a member there's zoo much information here!
--LouellaJo

Zoo lol auto correct:-\
--LouellaJo

So glad you love the site. :):)

I use Ziploc square containers in just 2 sizes to keep it simple. I have about 400 billion of them in my cupboard. ;)

Kristen I am a little over two months out from competition and I have hit a plateau do you know if this happens and I will start losing or is their anything else I should do? Thanks so much
--tinaj01

Plateaus certainly do happen. If you are working with a coach make sure to let him/her know what's going on. If you're not working with a coach I would give it a few more weeks before making any changes.

Hope that helps! With love ~Kristin <3
