My Favorite Chocolate-y Shakes

I love protein shakes - not only because they are a fast and easy source of nutrition - but because there is no end to the variety of things you can toss in your blender. Here are a few of my favorite chocolate-based shakes.

My favorite way to build a shake is to start with unsweetened almond milk. At only 40 - 60 calories per 8 oz. serving, it adds flavor, texture and nutrients to my shake with a minimum of calories. I also use frozen fruit or ice for a cold and creamy consistency. A scoop of protein powder is a given.

Try these pre- or post-workout for a healthy, muscle-building treat!
