Hi everyone. This is my first post. I'm 45 and considering doing my 1st bikini competition this year. I now work out 4-5 days/week for over a year and am if pretty good shape but I don't understand how cut bikini girls get. I'm 5'11" and weigh 135-140 lbs. wear a size4. This is my normal. I've dropped from a 6 since I started lifting and putting on some muscle.
My issue is that I'm really tall and most ladies I see compete seem more petite. If I drop much weight my abs show but my arms get really lean. How do I know how thin is too thin for this category? I'll try to load some full body pics later.
Also I'm an EXTREMELY fair red head!
Any suggestions on fake tanning products? I've never been able to tan- just freckle. Or is this just not for me??

Hi there! You're 45???? Sheesh girl you're stunning! And congrats on considering your first competition. It's SO super fun and well worth it, not to mention addicting. :) :)

As for the tanning products, most competitions have a professional tanning outfit right at the venue that you can pay for. I highly recommend that as they are the experts. They will hand spray tan you on the spot and provide all the touchups the morning of the show. WELL worth it.

And as for the "cuts" you see with the bikini gals, that's just consistent and steady clean eating and training. Those cuts come in the last few weeks before competing and the visibility of them is enhanced with the tan.

If you like, zip some photos to me and I'll take a look. Kristin@FigureAndBikini.org

With love,

Hi, this is my first competition and it is coming quick.... May 18th. I am so nervous and I am praying I can keep my head in the game. Working full time, presents many challenges as far as the eating goes. Does anyone have any good advice for a first timer? I will be ordering my bikini soon so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
