A member asked - This leanness has made boobs non existent and saggy skin, how does one cope wth that?

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

Boobs consist of fatty tissue, so when we lean up for a competition we're going to ultimately lose size in this area. The simple answer is that it is what it is, it's impossible to "spot reduce". If your goal is to maintain breast mass then the only solution that I'm aware of is surgery.

For sagging skin, this too is a result of fat loss and the skin not being able to bounce back easily from years (or even decades) of being stretched. Typically the sagging skin is not visible to others when you strap on a figure competition suit. Many are made with special padding upon request to enhance breast shape.

excellent I didnt know they could do that and although I know confidence needs to be gained for competitions and it will be (fngers crossed) saggy skin will be my main issue I think , in gym you cant see it but OMG These suits are so skimpy scary

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

Ahhhh yes they don't cover a bunch but figure suits are made to 'pull' everything together, so to speak. The suits are designed to give ultra-lift to potentially troublesome areas such as glutes and chest. If you go with a reputable suit designer he/she will made sure it fits just right and enhances those areas you're concerned about. I would make sure to discuss that with the designer when you're ordering. It certainly can't hurt. :)

Does anyone else out there find that certain affiliations prefer implants for proportions sake? When I compete in INBF or WNBF, I do extremely well. I am 5'4(barely) and compete at 177 and have nooo boobs left to speak of. When I did an NPC show, I found most of the figure girls had implants. Is it just me that notices this?

Jen Fleck Posted by Violet26

O gosh, typo, I compete at 117!

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

I think NPC tends to be tougher competition overall from a size standpoint. Their judges seem to favor more muscle mass overall. Perhaps gals with implants may have an advantage by balancing their look, although I have seen when implants can actually work to their disadvantage if they overpower the upper body.

Would anyone be willing to share a personal breast enhancement decision and how this ties into training, how long it puts you out in recovery and if there were lost gains, how quickly gains were recovered for those of us contemplating a breast augmentation surgery? I have very recently decided to prep for the stage in figure and would like to achieve this goal by 37 I am turning 36 at the end of August.

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

Well dcustard, we posted your question on Facebook and got quite a conversation going! Here's the summary:

Meaghan http://beingfitforme1.blogspot.com/2011/08/surgery-experience-q.html

Here is my blog I wrote 1 week after my surgery about the experience and I answered questions that were asked a lot. It has almost been a year & I couldn't be happier with my decision. If you go through my blog you can see that I did gain some weight after from completely not eating clean and not being able to workout, but I gained more muscle this year than I have in the past 4 years total. I hope this helps!

Valerie
Why do you feel you need fake boobs to win???? It shouldnt be about boob size it should be about the way you train, your muscle tone and the way you present yourself on stage...its sad you have to consider doing this to yourself to achieve results on stage....they are my thoughts

Miranda
I can't wait to hear what the ladies have to say, this has crossed my mind recently very curious.

Norma
they didnt say anything about breast influencing the decision from the judges i think they were asking if getting them would set them back for training and achieving their goal to be on stage by 37 ! if she wants breast implants and they make her happy more power to her!

Valerie
She wants them because almost all women on stage have them and yes the size of your breast does influence the judges mind...I have seen it way to many times!!!! It is her right to do to her body what she wants, I have no right nor does anyone from stopping her, my point it its sad that "us" as women have to do this to our bodies to see the results on stage.....you put a small chested women and a women who has had surgery on stage and the one with the larger breast will win every time hands down....can you show me one picture of a figure pro with a size B chest????

Kris
mmm... I think she just wants them... stage or no stage.. her Q was how it effected her training. I got mine because I lost a ton of wght, and those divas never looked happy... @ 35 I hated it, so I got them done and feel so much better ... They never really interfered with training, however I never really attack my chest training anyhow... so your not out for long. You want em.. go for it, they wont jeapordize your dream. ;) My 2 cents... oh plus, never heard of such a thing were the boobs helped a competitor... Really???

Lindsey
Agreed Valerie. Let's face it- it's all about the looks when it comes to this

Trish
I agree with you, it shouldn't be about chest size to win, but it IS part of the territory.....I have to admit, I too am considering surgery, but have the same queztions as far as recovery time, etc. I am considering it, because no matter how well I eat or train, I have no control on the size..... I think being fuller would help me feel better about myself! I cannot imagine a person going through surgery for 1 competition......

Meaghan
I agree with Valerie in a way & I think Trish makes a good point about it making you feel better about yourself. I had wanted implants for 7 years before I finally got them which was far before I even knew anything about competing. But I also knew I wasn't 100% pleased with my body & I knew that getting implants wouldn't change my perspective. It wasn't until I was very happy with where my body was at that I still felt insecure about my chest size. When I realized that I had the body I wanted, but still didn't have the confidence I desired that is when I knew an augmentation was going to be a good decision for me. It truly made me feel better about myself, whether that sounds stupid or not. It is just the way things went for me. I don't regret my decision at all.

I honestly don't think this woman was saying she wanted implants for the stage. It sounds like she has wanted them, but also set a goal for herself to compete at the age of 37. I believe she is just trying to see if she has enough time to get in the shape she needs with the surgery or if she should wait.

Melissa
Its been almost a year for me since my enhancement ...I went from an A to full C. The more I worked out the more I lost in my breast and it wasn't a decision I made because of eventually going on stage altho I have been on stage and ALOT of women have had them because of the fat loss their bodies went thru, and I personally think the judges do look at that. The way the competitions have gotten as time goes the requirements to still look feminine is a big deal. And yes it did set me back and I did gain few pounds, but I have gained alot of muscle since. But keep in mind your chest recovery will be longer...it wa hard for me to do pull up and bench press for sometime but I am strong and more muscular now and definitely have NO regrets...do it for yourself not for competition ...it really helped my self esteem a well in and out of the gym ; )

Tara
One question answered: Erin stern pro w small boobs. Next question: you will lose strength in bench press for sure. I couldnt bench for 10wks. To get back to full bench strength approx 6 mos. Watch your diet and you wont gain! Good luck

Norma
that is what you think! I for one want fake boobs cuz i think i would look and feel better about myself and i also want to go on stage ,maybe she just has never has had boobs always wanted and to achieve her goal of hitting the stage with her new boobs would give her body more simmetry

Stefanie
I think fake boobs are like fake abs, fake gluteus or whatever... it is all possible today... anybody can do that... and - most of them do not even look good. it is natural that our boobs become smaller with the kind of training and diet we do - so i don't understand if this is a criterium for the judges. I mean - it sure does look good when there is something that fills the bikini top (naturally), but what has this to do with the sport. i would never do it just to place better. i would only do it if i thought i really wanted it for myself - which i don't. i am happy with what i have. :)

Norma
they are not like fake abs or fake butts Stefanie ,those things you are mentioning are able to improve with training cuz they are muscles ...we do lose our boobs with a lot of training ,i will def do it cuz i think i would look more aesthetic for myself not for any judge ...a competition lasts just a few hours ,the boobs stay and dont go anywhere... you gotta make sure you want them cuz of personal reasons ,but she sounds like she just wants boobs not to place better

Valerie
I dont care if you have fake boobs or dont have them, and I get the question she was asking was recovery time and training....my point is its sad that most women feel that the only way to look beautiful or feel better about them selves is to have fake boobs. it is sad that it is such a huge part of figure and fake boobs are alot like fake abs N fake gluteus....fake is fake. She can do what she wants its her body i mean have we not all thought about bigger boobs...yes Im a B cup and getting on stage with b size boobs is tuff but I do it, we as women let society tell us how we should look, be glad with what god gave you....

Speaking of boob enhancement, are there products out there (inserts etc) that people typically use to give the illusion of a more chesty appearance? I am looking at the whole look and a little extra volume on top would be great. I am very small chested (read-FLAT) so I would like to have some curves to show off. Anyone have a favourite site/product or trick for this?

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

Hi Allison! Yes, most suit designers will give you inserts upon request, that will give the appearance of a fuller chest. Have you ordered a suit yet?

Alison A-O Posted by Ally86

A local girl is making my suit. She also competes and has made suits for girls in figure, bikini and bodybuilding. I am actually meeting with her today. I am hoping she knows how to make the most of my little chest :)

Kristin Shaffer Posted by fabeditor

Cool! How did it go?

Alison A-O Posted by Ally86

Ah sorry for the late response. The fitting went well. We decided on a pink fabric and she had all these ideas for what cut she wanted and how to make this and that look better. She should be done making it soon. I am just over 5 weeks out. (yea the panic and the excitement are setting in lol) She as far as the boob department goes is sewing in padding and we can play with it when she is done by adding more. It all depends on shape, you dont want it all in one spot or the cup looks lumpy. Honestly though, you can hide a LOT of padding in those suckers lol.
